Then there's music... where we apparently peaked at Napster and it's been downhill ever since. The real innovation was clearly the ability to download entire discographies without paying a cent. Progress isn't always what corporate overlords want you to believe it is.

The tech industry's version of "free choice" is basically four monopolies in trench coats. Meanwhile, the actual freedom fighters are these obscure operating systems that require you to compile your own kernel just to check email. Sure, you could run Linux and spend your weekends debugging driver issues, or just surrender to the corporate overlords who've already divided your digital soul among themselves. Freedom is technically available—if you have a computer science degree and infinite patience.

Ah, the classic "sure, I can do that" moment that haunts every .NET developer's nightmares. The boss has absolutely no idea that asking a .NET developer to suddenly work with .COM and .ORG sites is like asking a submarine captain to fly a helicopter because "they both involve transportation." The silent existential crisis happening on that developer's face is the universal language of "I'm about to nod yes while internally screaming." For non-devs: .NET is Microsoft's development framework, while .COM and .ORG are just domain extensions that have nothing to do with programming languages. It's the corporate equivalent of asking someone who specializes in French cuisine to "just whip up some websites" because both involve creation.

The undead king of operating systems refuses to die! Windows XP, released in 2001, is somehow still commanding a higher market share (0.64%) than both Windows Vista (0.07%) and Windows 8 (0.28%) combined. That iconic blue sky and green hill background is basically the digital equivalent of a retirement home resident outliving their own children. Microsoft's engineers are somewhere crying into their keyboards while legacy systems administrators are proudly wearing their "It just works" t-shirts. The zombie OS keeps shambling along, bloody but unbowed, like Randy Marsh in South Park refusing to give up a fight. No security updates? No modern browser support? XP users: "I didn't hear no bell!"
