Someone really looked at their codebase and said "let's make one class do literally everything." Entity, DTO, Domain Model, API Contract, AND Kafka Message? That's not code reuse, that's architectural Stockholm syndrome. Sure, you saved yourself from writing a few mappers, but now your database entity knows about your message broker, your API exposes internal IDs, and your domain logic is coupled to JSON serialization annotations. Good luck explaining to the new junior why changing a Kafka field breaks the database migration. The tears in that meme? Those are from the poor soul who has to refactor this nightmare six months later when requirements change. Separation of concerns died so you could avoid writing three extra classes.

Content Tired of failing Data Science interviews for being a real Statistician, and not a CS tryhard Google 50 Yesterday Q 46 Comments I am a Statistician. I have a grad degree in Stats. Not a grad degree in Analytics or Physics or Computer Science, a grad degree in Stats. Biostats, Operations Research, and Econometrics are cool though. I build models properly. If you don't have a grad degree in Stats, your models suck. No two ways about it. There are dozens of things you don't know to test and control for, and your model is wildly inaccurate. Outside of CV and NLP, you are an absolute joke. You're a SWE? Good for you. But, that's a completely different skillset with little overlap. Akin to a Pharmacist performing surgery. I go to interviews with 'top' companies and get rejected for giving an answer that is too right. I explain it perfectly vs its alternatives and give all of the context needed. Then some SWE pretending to be a Statistician fails me because they don't know what I'm talking about, they want a crappy DL model because they don't have a clue. Apple, Facebook, Netflix, Amazon, Linked OpenAl, etc. All have failed me in DS interviews despite perfect performances. All filled with CS tryhards. Even the HFTs are infested with CS dweebs who don't have a clue about DS. Sigma was asking me SWE questions in a Quant interview ffs. Google is my only option, there is nowhere else for me to go to be a real Statistician, believe me I've tried. Sucks knowing when you hit your ceiling and there is no alternative. Half of the Google DSs are now a joke too, have weaseled their way into convincing morons that they know what they are talking about. Sadly, these are the ones that politic into management and hire those of their ilk into the ranks in order to build their empires.
