When the C++ standards committee rejects your proposal to use the shiny new C++26 features, the natural response is to just... skip a few versions and jump straight to C++17. You know, the one that came out in 2017. Nothing says "modern C++ development" quite like time-traveling backwards nine years because the latest standard is too spicy for your codebase.

The real tragedy here is that someone actually thought migrating to C++17 was the consolation prize. Like, "Sorry kiddo, you can't have structured bindings and concepts from C++20, but here's some std::optional and if constexpr to dry those tears." Meanwhile, there's probably some legacy code still crying in C++98 wondering when it'll get adopted.

Fun fact: C++26 isn't even finalized yet, so someone was really shooting for the stars with that proposal. The audacity to ask for features that don't officially exist, only to settle for tech that's old enough to have its own driver's license.
