Sony Can't Catch A Break

Battle.net really said "we need literally everything" and then casually slipped "Bake a cake" into the permission list like we wouldn't notice. Because nothing says "gaming integration" quite like OAuth access to your baking capabilities. The permission list reads like a surveillance state wishlist: access your friends, manage your friends, know what servers you're in, join servers FOR you, read your messages, send messages, update your profile, update your activity, and oh yeah—bake a cake. At this point they might as well add "water your plants" and "file your taxes." Props to whoever snuck that in there. Either it's a developer's cry for help, a test to see if anyone actually reads these things, or Battle.net genuinely needs cake-baking permissions for... reasons. Either way, that "Authorize" button is doing some heavy lifting here.

Look at this absolute masterpiece of error handling. When things go wrong, just ask OpenAI to fix it and eval() whatever it returns. Because nothing says "I trust the process" like blindly executing code from an AI in production. The cherry on top? Generating random passwords for users who probably wanted to use their own. Security through confusion - it's the new standard.

Hollywood vs reality: the top shows a dramatic "hacking" progress bar straight out of a 90s thriller, while the bottom reveals the embarrassing truth—it's just a bunch of print() statements. Nothing says "elite hacker" like displaying fake progress messages in the terminal while your actual code does absolutely nothing. Next time your non-tech friend asks you to "hack something," just run this script and watch them be amazed by your "skills." Bonus points if you type really fast while it runs.

You know that friend who sends you a YouTube link that's basically a novel? Yeah, those URLs with ?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spring2024&fbclid=IwAR2x... going on for three miles. Every single one of those parameters is tracking where you came from, what you clicked, and probably what you had for breakfast. The privacy-conscious dev in you wants to strip all that surveillance garbage before you click, but then you realize you'd need to explain UTM parameters to your non-tech friends and suddenly you're the paranoid guy at the party. Just smile, nod, and mentally note that Facebook now knows you two are connected. Again. Pro tip: Everything after the ? is usually tracking. You're welcome.

You know you've been reading too much cryptography documentation when you start spotting Alice and Bob in the wild like they're celebrities. For those blissfully unaware, Alice and Bob are the legendary placeholder characters used in literally every security, encryption, and networking example since the dawn of time. They're always exchanging keys, sending encrypted messages, or getting eavesdropped on by Eve. Here you are, lonely dev sitting by yourself, watching Alice and Bob do their thing in yet another RFC or textbook. They're out there living their best cryptographic lives while you're just trying to understand why your SSL handshake is failing. The loneliness is real when your only companions are hypothetical entities from protocol specifications. Fun fact: Alice and Bob were first introduced in a 1978 paper by Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Leonard Adleman (the RSA crew). Before that, cryptographers just used "A" and "B" like absolute psychopaths. At least now our abstract examples have names we can emotionally attach to.

THE ABSOLUTE VIOLATION OF WATCHING YOUR CURSOR MOVE WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT! 😱 There you are, innocently sipping coffee, when suddenly—YOUR MOUSE IS POSSESSED! That IT person is now navigating your digital kingdom, opening folders you forgot existed, seeing your questionable file naming system, and probably judging your 37 browser tabs. It's like someone walking into your house and rearranging your furniture while you just stand there, powerless, watching the digital intimacy unfold. The ultimate surrender of control!
