Windows security in a nutshell. Ask to install a program, and suddenly your computer turns into an overprotective parent doing a background check. "Where are you from, buddy?" Like it's interrogating a suspicious character at the border. The moment the program can't produce proper papers? VIRUS ALERT! Meanwhile, Linux is sitting in the corner like "sudo apt install whatever-the-hell-you-want" and just... does it. No questions asked. The trust issues of Windows would make my therapist rich.

Left side: Regular person confidently declaring they feel "totally safe using Tesla Autopilot." Right side: Programmers who actually wrote the code having an existential crisis because they know exactly what lurks in those if-else statements. Nothing makes you question mortality like knowing the corner cases your code doesn't handle. The same programmers who put "// TODO: Fix this later" in production code are now responsible for keeping your car between the lines.

The value of backups follows the classic IT tragedy in three acts: Act I: "What's a backup worth?" you ask, staring at your perfectly functional system. Act II: "Nothing," you decide, because everything's working fine and storage costs money. Act III: After your production database spontaneously combusts at 4:30pm on a Friday before a holiday weekend, suddenly that backup is worth your entire career, marriage, and will to live. Funny how perspective changes when you're staring at the digital equivalent of a burning city.

The tech industry's relationship with the word "open" is like that ex who said they wanted an "open relationship" but actually meant "I want to see other people while you stay committed." On the left, we've got "Open" VPNs with fine print that would make a lawyer blush: "free" (after you pay), "unlimited" (for exactly two people), and source code you can view from such a distance you'll need the James Webb telescope. And then there's "Open" AI on the right—about as open as Fort Knox during a security drill. "Open research" (coming never), "open models" (just trust us, bro), and an "open culture" where sharing is strictly forbidden. After 15 years in tech, I've learned that "open" is corporate-speak for "we'll keep it open until we've captured enough market share to slam the door shut." Classic bait-and-switch, now with 100% more paywalls!

The most elegant way to commemorate a buffer overflow. Nothing says "I love you" like crashing production with a string that's too damn long for a 32-bit register. That cross-stitch belongs in every security team's office, right next to the framed CVEs they've patched. Bonus points if you've ever had to explain to management why their Valentine's Day promotion brought down the entire payment system.

That primal rage when Windows asks for permission to do what you just explicitly told it to do. Nothing quite like the power trip of declaring "I am the administrator" to your own machine, only to have it question your authority for the 47th time today. The real admin privilege is the patience not to throw your computer out the window.
