The brain hits with the devastating mathematical truth bomb: what if your "10x engineers" aren't actually exceptional, but just regular (1x) developers... and you're just a pathetic 0.1x coder? That late-night realization when you're comparing your 500-line solution to someone's elegant 5-line fix. Suddenly all those Stack Overflow answers that seemed like wizardry make you question if you've been fooling yourself about your coding abilities this whole time. The coefficient of your programming self-worth just asymptotically approached zero.

The perfect response when your coworker asks if you've consulted the documentation before bothering them with your problem. Ten years in this industry and I've developed a sixth sense for detecting who actually reads docs versus who just mashes Stack Overflow solutions together until something works. Documentation is like flossing - everybody claims they do it regularly, but the reality is much grimmer. Most devs would rather reverse-engineer an entire codebase than spend 5 minutes reading what the author actually intended.

Who knows. A year, maybe more. Where am I going? A bunch of places. One every few months until I'm done. Why? To mandate absolute focus on a very small number of things (Postman included), fortify my network with coworkers and old new faces, force minimalism, and cattle-prod my brain. How am I going to afford it? By renting out my house to cover Airbnbs. Sure, it was planned months in advance. There was prep work. I'm not just blasting off into the ether. But still This could be a terrible idea, but it could also be genius - we'll find out. Wish me luck.

Someone asked the simplest question in the universe: "How do I get the length of a string in C#?" and Microsoft Community decided to write the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy as a response. Meanwhile, Stack Overflow just drops "str.Length" like a mic drop and walks away. Microsoft Community out here with the "Hello, my name is Blake" energy, writing three paragraphs about the .NET Framework's "efficient and intuitive built-in property" when literally two words would've done the job. It's like asking someone what time it is and they explain how watches are manufactured. This is why developers have trust issues with official documentation. Sometimes you just need the answer, not a dissertation on string manipulation theory.
