VSCode asking "Do you trust the authors of the files in this folder?" when you literally just opened your own project is peak security theater. Like yeah, I wrote this code yesterday, but sure, let me formally declare my trust in... myself? The Obi-Wan meme nails it perfectly – "Well, of course I trust him. He's me."
Microsoft added this "workspace trust" feature to protect you from malicious code that might auto-execute. Noble intention, terrible execution. Now every time you clone your own repo or open a folder, you're interrogated like you're downloading sketchy npm packages from a guy named xXx_hacker_2003_xXx.
Pro tip: most of us just blindly click "Yes, I trust the authors" faster than we accept cookie policies, completely defeating the purpose. Security features only work if they don't annoy people into submission.
