"Officially declared dead by author" – which is basically the tech equivalent of a parent disowning their kid because their newer, shinier sibling (VS Code) is doing better. The certificate lovingly documents Atom's 10 years and 10 months of life, complete with 61K stars and 17K forks, before GitHub stamped it with "KILLED IN PRODUCTION" like some sort of corporate crime scene. The last words being "dying in a merge conflict" is just *chef's kiss* – because nothing says "farewell cruel world" quite like unresolved Git drama. Fun fact: Atom was literally built by GitHub using Electron (which they also created), only for them to pivot hard to VS Code and leave Atom in the digital graveyard. Talk about playing favorites with your children!

The classic "everyone uses the popular thing" argument getting absolutely demolished by someone who actually knows their stack. Left side is yelling about GitHub being the industry standard while the right side is just casually sitting there with their self-hosted Forgejo instance running at 98% uptime, zero data loss, and zero major bugs. Meanwhile GitHub can't even render pull requests on their webgui properly and somehow maintains a 90% uptime despite being owned by Microsoft with infinite resources. The smug cat energy is perfect here – that's the face of someone who escaped the GitHub monopoly and is living their best life with open-source Git hosting. Forgejo (a Gitea fork) might not have the fancy Copilot features, but when your PR list actually loads without spinning for 30 seconds, who's really winning?

Someone made a Spotify playlist called "Songs about GIT" and it's basically the entire developer experience condensed into 6 tracks. "Pull It" and "Push It" are the only commands anyone actually remembers. "Committed" is what you tell yourself you are to learning Git properly. "My computer is dying" is what happens after you accidentally committed 50GB of node_modules. "Catastrophic Failure" is merge conflict time. And "F*** This S*** I'm Out" is when you discover someone force-pushed to main and deleted three weeks of work. The playlist runtime is 17 minutes, which is coincidentally how long it takes before you give up and just clone the repo fresh instead of fixing your mess.

The silent killer of every developer's sanity: accidentally pushing your .env file to GitHub. That little tab showing the .env file about to be closed is giving me heart palpitations! One wrong commit and suddenly your API keys, database credentials, and that secret message to your future self are available for the whole internet to see.
