Sure Thing Bob: AI's Empty Promises

You know what's harder than writing code? Pretending you understand what your code does when it's asking for permission to nuke your entire file system. That brief moment of existential dread when you realize you copied some script from Stack Overflow three months ago, modified it slightly, and now it wants terminal access. Sure, let me just blindly approve this AI agent that could either automate my entire workflow or accidentally order 10,000 pizzas to my boss's house. What could possibly go wrong? The real skill isn't coding anymore—it's maintaining a poker face while clicking "Allow" on things you absolutely should investigate first but won't because the deadline was yesterday.

Look, I've been around long enough to know that AI replacing programmers is the tech equivalent of "flying cars by 2020." But Stack Overflow? Yeah, that's actually happening. Why spend 20 minutes waiting for some moderator to mark your question as duplicate when ChatGPT will just... answer it? Wrong sometimes, sure, but at least it won't roast you for not including your environment details. Stack Overflow traffic has genuinely tanked since LLMs became mainstream. Turns out people prefer a hallucinating AI that's nice to them over a correct human who makes them feel like an idiot. Can't say I blame them.

Mathematicians are having existential crises about AI solving complex theorems while programmers are just sitting here with a noose around their necks like "yeah, welcome to the party." We've been getting replaced by increasingly sophisticated automation since someone invented the compiler. First it was assembly, then high-level languages, then frameworks that write half your code, then Copilot, now ChatGPT. At this point we're basically just professional Stack Overflow copy-pasters with imposter syndrome, so watching AI come for the math nerds too? That's just another Tuesday. The gallows humor is strong with this profession.

So AI is gonna replace us all, huh? Can't even spell "Knowledge" correctly in the title, but sure, let's trust it to write our production code. Meanwhile, the supposed AI genius here is getting rate-limited by localhost (127.0.0.1, aka YOUR OWN COMPUTER) for downloading too many books in 24 hours. Imagine being so technically incompetent that you're DDoSing yourself. The irony is absolutely *chef's kiss* – someone claiming AI eliminates the need for technical knowledge while simultaneously demonstrating they have zero understanding of how IP addresses work. Plot twist: You still need to know what you're doing, or you'll end up blocking yourself from your own machine like a digital self-own.

Google CEO: "30% of our code is AI generated!" Also Google: *entire cloud infrastructure collapses like a house of cards* Coincidence? I think not. Nothing says "cutting edge tech company" quite like having your AI write a third of your code while your services implode spectacularly. Maybe the AI just decided to implement that "move fast and break things" philosophy a bit too literally. Next earnings call: "We've achieved 50% AI-generated code and 100% downtime efficiency!"

When you ask an AI CEO what their revolutionary design logic is and they just order a cheese pizza, then proudly present... Jensen Huang. The joke here is that AI companies are basically just throwing together whatever works (like ordering the simplest pizza possible) and somehow ending up with the NVIDIA CEO—the guy who's literally powering the entire AI revolution with GPUs. It's a beautiful commentary on how AI development sometimes feels less like careful architectural planning and more like "idk let's see what happens" and then accidentally creating a tech deity. The simplicity of the request versus the grandiosity of the result is *chef's kiss*. Also works as a meta-joke since Jensen himself probably approves every AI training run that uses NVIDIA hardware, so in a way, every AI did "make" him rich.
