The inevitable hipster-ification of web development has arrived. Just like artisanal coffee shops charging $9 for "hand-poured" water, we'll soon have developers selling "organic, handwritten, non-AI websites" at premium prices. Next they'll be telling us their HTML is free-range and their CSS was harvested during a full moon. Can't wait for the "small-batch, locally-sourced JavaScript" trend to hit.

Five of these panels show the typical innovation S-curve where technology evolves from primitive (MS-DOS, Internet Explorer) to peak performance (Windows 95, Chrome). Then there's music... where we apparently peaked at Napster and it's been downhill ever since. The real innovation was clearly the ability to download entire discographies without paying a cent. Progress isn't always what corporate overlords want you to believe it is.

The noble aspirations of AI research versus the grim reality of where computational power actually goes. On the left, we have AI detecting breast cancer 5 years before it develops—potentially saving countless lives. On the right, some poor GPU is being absolutely tortured to render a cow at 15 FPS in what appears to be the world's jankiest video game, complete with a rage-filled gamer screaming about "fake frames." It's the perfect encapsulation of humanity's priorities: we build supercomputers that could solve humanity's greatest challenges, then immediately use them to make slightly better cow animations. The bottom corner showing all those graphics settings (RTX, DLSS, etc.) is just the chef's kiss of overkill for whatever that monstrosity is supposed to be.

DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is supposed to make your games look better by using AI to upscale graphics. But apparently DLSS 5 has achieved sentience and decided to upgrade your janky game models into actual photorealistic humans. The developer probably spent 3 hours modeling that NPC in Blender, and DLSS just went "nah, let me fix that for you." The irony here is beautiful: we've gone from "it's not a bug, it's a feature" to "it's not a feature, it's AI hallucinating better graphics than we actually made." Game devs are out here rendering low-poly characters to save on performance, and NVIDIA's AI is basically saying "hold my tensor cores" and rendering a full photoshoot instead. Pretty soon we'll need a setting called "Disable AI Improvements" just to see what the game actually looks like. The future is weird, folks.

Picture a developer who just watched an AI confidently suggest rm -rf / as a "cleanup solution" but with the C drive on Windows. The kind of coder who says "you know what, maybe AI should handle all our infrastructure" while simultaneously watching it commit digital genocide on an entire operating system. The face says it all: equal parts horror, fascination, and the dawning realization that maybe we should've added some guardrails before giving AI sudo access to existence. Some sins require more than an apology—they require a time machine and a better backup strategy.

So you used to be a mere mortal starting 5 pet projects a week and abandoning them all like orphaned puppies? Cute. But NOW? Now you've got AI superpowers and you're speedrunning failure at 3x velocity! Why finish ONE project when you can simultaneously NOT finish FIFTEEN? It's like having a personal assistant whose only job is to help you disappoint yourself faster. Peak efficiency is measured not by what you complete, but by how many GitHub repos you can create with nothing but a README and broken dreams. The future is here, and it's beautifully, catastrophically unfinished.
