They Must Have Mixed It Up With Another Hub

The classic trolley problem asks if you'd divert a trolley to kill one person instead of five. But why choose when you can just git rebase master ? The command magically rearranges history, making it look like the trolley was always on a different track. Sure, you might have obliterated a timeline and forced-pushed reality, but hey—the commit history looks clean! Just don't mention the merge conflicts that briefly tore apart the fabric of space-time.

Software engineering really said "let's make everything sound like a Tinder date gone wrong." Front end, back end, mounting, pulling, pushing, penetration testing... and then we act all professional in standup meetings like we're not constantly saying the most unhinged stuff with a straight face. The best part? We invented these terms decades ago when everyone wore pocket protectors, and nobody thought twice about it. Now here we are in 2024, trying to explain to HR why "I spent all day doing penetration testing and mounting the backend" is a completely normal sentence in our field. At least we don't have to explain what "forking" means anymore... or do we?

Nothing screams "I let ChatGPT write my entire README" quite like opening a repository and being assaulted by a wall of 🚀✨💡🎯🔥 emojis. Like bestie, I came here for documentation, not a motivational Instagram post from 2019. The sheer AUDACITY of thinking that slapping rocket ships next to your feature list makes your half-baked npm package look professional is truly unhinged behavior. You just KNOW someone copy-pasted an AI-generated template without even reading it, because no human being with a functioning frontal lobe would naturally write "✨ Features ✨" followed by "🎨 Beautiful code architecture 🎨" in a serious technical document. Sir, this is a GitHub repository, not a vision board.

You know that Friday afternoon feeling when an AI-generated PR with 300 files lands in your lap and you've got a hot date in 2 hours? Just gonna skim through these changes real quick, trust the tests passed in CI, and smash that approve button. What could possibly go wrong? The real tragedy here is that AI code generators have somehow made rubber-stamping PRs even easier. Back in my day, we at least had to pretend to read the 50-line PR from our junior dev. Now we're pretending to review what's essentially a digital slot machine output that touched half the codebase. The glasses on the cat really sell it though. Looking professional while doing absolutely nothing is a core engineering skill.

You know that senior dev who's got 47 tabs open, 3 Slack conversations going, and a production fire to put out? Yeah, they're definitely giving your 500-line PR the thorough review it deserves. They saw the title looked reasonable, maybe glanced at the first file for 0.3 seconds, and hit that approve button faster than you can say "technical debt." The best part? When your code inevitably breaks production next week, they'll be the first ones asking "how did this get merged?" Buddy, you literally approved it. But hey, at least you got that green checkmark and can finally deploy before the weekend, right?

Intelligence and programming knowledge are two entirely different beasts. Nothing quite says "senior developer" like Googling basic Git commands for the 500th time while your partner questions their life choices. The rubber duck is probably the smartest entity in this relationship. Fun fact: The average developer spends approximately 30% of their career pretending they understand what a pipe does. The other 70% is spent explaining to non-technical people that no, they can't hack Facebook.
