The PR Review From Hell

When you get 4 automated warnings screaming "DO NOT PUSH YOUR API KEYS TO PUBLIC REPOS" and your response is basically "yeah but what if I did tho?" That's not even a skill issue anymore, that's weaponized negligence. The code literally has a comment in ALL CAPS warning about replacing the placeholder, another comment about NOT pushing the actual key, and then... bro just hardcoded what looks like a real Google Gemini API key and shipped it. The skull emoji really ties it together—a perfect self-awareness of the disaster they just unleashed. Now some script kiddie is mining their API quota faster than you can say "incident report." This is why we can't have nice things. Or free API tiers.

The descent into madness, documented one commit message at a time. It starts with "fix" because you're confident and professional. Then "fix2" because oops, forgot something. By "fix_final" you're lying to yourself and Git knows it. "fix_final_ACTUAL" is where the denial peaks. Then comes "please work" – the desperate prayer to the code gods. "WHY" is the existential crisis hitting hard. "ok maybe this" shows bargaining with the compiler. Finally, "I quit" is the acceptance stage of grief, except you'll be back tomorrow doing the exact same thing. The real tragedy? Your entire team will see this commit history in the morning and judge you accordingly. Pro tip: git rebase -i exists for a reason – to hide your 3 AM shame before anyone notices.

OpenAI announces they've achieved AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), and their proof? A GitHub repo with 5,000+ open issues. Nothing screams "superintelligent AI capable of solving any human task" quite like a massive backlog of unresolved bugs and feature requests. The irony is chef's kiss—true AGI would probably start by closing its own issues, but here we are with a repo that looks like every other abandoned side project. If this is AGI, then my personal projects with 47 unread notifications are basically sentient beings at this point.

You know that feeling when you discover a GitHub repo that looks like it'll solve all your problems, and then you check the commit history? Most of the time it's either "last updated 4 years ago" or the dreaded "initial commit" from 2019. But 5 hours ago? That's the developer equivalent of finding a warm pizza in an abandoned building—suspicious but absolutely delightful. It means the maintainer is not only alive, but actively working on it RIGHT NOW. No more praying to the open-source gods that your issue will get answered sometime before the heat death of the universe. No more forking a dead project and becoming the reluctant maintainer yourself. Just pure, unadulterated hope that your pull request might actually get merged. This is what serenity looks like in the chaotic hellscape of dependency management.

So your buddy spent a year building "multiple AI apps" with Claude doing all the heavy lifting, walked into an interview like he's the next Linus Torvalds, and got absolutely demolished by a basic Git question. The interviewer asked about merge vs rebase—literally Git 101—and homeboy probably had no idea because he's never actually pushed code without his AI buddy holding his hand. Here's the thing: you can build impressive stuff with AI assistance, but if you can't explain fundamental version control concepts that juniors learn on day one, you're gonna have a bad time. It's like claiming you're a chef because you can order UberEats really well. The interviewer saw right through the portfolio and went straight for the fundamentals—and the house of cards collapsed instantly. Welcome to the AI-assisted developer era, where your GitHub contribution graph is green but your actual knowledge is nonexistent. 😬

When you ship AI-generated code straight to prod and your tech lead gives it the rubber stamp with "looks good to me," you enter this beautiful state of denial where everything is definitely fine. The house is on fire, the coffee's still hot, and nobody's checking if the AI just reinvented bubble sort for the third time or hardcoded API keys directly into the frontend. But hey, the sprint's done and the velocity chart looks fantastic. The real kicker? That tech lead probably skimmed the PR in 30 seconds between meetings while thinking about their own production fire. Code review? More like code glance. The AI could've written the entire thing in COBOL and nobody would notice until 3 AM when PagerDuty starts screaming.
