When CRUD Spells Your Downfall

Content Software developers don't spend 8-12 continuous hours at their desk pumping out code every single day. Sure knowing how to code is a necessity in their profession. However, there's requirements to understand. Meetings to attend. Actual human interaction that happens almost as frequently as when they're writing code depending on the company and framework. You have just described run of the mill mediocre coders. Those are a dime a dozen and are easily replaceable and not worth hiring at all based on Elon Musks standards. An elite coder would be someone like John Carmack who would literally spend all day and night coding for months to ship a game. He or she would know all the ins and out of the full stack including both software and hardware and networking. They would build state of the art technology in months when experts thought it would be impossible. And in the end they would ship game after game after game with a team of 6. Who needs the LIMIT clause when you can just nuke 98.8% of your production data? That smug face is the perfect embodiment of a junior dev who just discovered DELETE FROM but hasn't yet discovered WHERE ROWNUM <= 500 . Meanwhile, the database admin is probably having heart palpitations in the next room. The best part? Those remaining 500 rows are probably corrupted by cascading deletes anyway!

Ah yes, the "security through simplicity" approach. Why bother with REST constraints, data validation, or SQL injection protection when you can just let users execute raw queries directly against your production database? Nothing says "I trust the internet" like exposing your entire database through a single endpoint. The best part? When your company inevitably gets hacked, you can just blame it on "those pesky hackers" instead of your API that's basically a neon sign saying "DROP TABLES HERE". Bonus points for hardcoding credentials in your source code. Because who needs environment variables when you can just commit passwords directly to GitHub?
