CEOs want to slash AI token costs by 90% while engineers are basically treating GPT-4 like a Vegas slot machine—just keep pulling that lever and maybe something good happens. The beautiful irony here is that management demands "bleeding edge" AI models for competitive advantage, then freaks out when the OpEx bill arrives like they didn't know tokens cost actual money. Meanwhile, devs are running wild with prompts that could've been solved with a regex, burning through tokens faster than a crypto miner burns electricity. "Should I debug this myself or ask Claude to rewrite my entire codebase for the third time today?" Productivity stays flat because half the team is now prompt engineers instead of actual engineers, and the C-suite is wondering why their AWS bill looks like a phone number. The real kicker? Those "bleeding edge tokens" aren't even that much better for most use cases, but nobody wants to admit they're paying premium prices for what's essentially autocomplete on steroids.

Content When I spend an hour figuring out why my code is broken and it ends up being fixed by quitting and restarting XCode This is the way

We've gone from "npm install takes 5 minutes" to "npm install takes 5 minutes plus a commercial break." The dystopian future where even your package manager is monetized with unskippable ads before you can download your 47 dependencies for a hello world app. Imagine sitting there, desperately needing to install Express, but first you gotta watch ads for NordVPN, Raid Shadow Legends, and probably another JavaScript framework that'll be deprecated by next Tuesday. The character's dead-inside expression? That's every developer in 2030 realizing they need to subscribe to "npm Premium" just to skip ads on lodash. At least we'll finally have time to read the package documentation while waiting. Oh wait, who are we kidding—nobody reads those anyway.

When your manager tells you to "just patch it in production" and you know damn well this is going to be a structural disaster. The image shows people casually dining on a deck while workers are literally holding up the foundation beneath them with what appears to be emergency construction work. That's basically every "quick fix" in production—everything looks fine from the user's perspective (people eating peacefully), but behind the scenes, devs are frantically propping up the entire system with duct tape and prayers. The "should be quick!" part is chef's kiss. Because nothing says "quick" like potentially bringing down the entire platform while users are actively on it. But sure, let's skip staging, ignore the CI/CD pipeline, and YOLO this hotfix straight to prod. What could possibly go wrong?

Nothing quite captures that moment of pure existential dread like realizing you just ran DROP DATABASE on production instead of your sandbox environment. The cat's face is literally all of us – that split second when your soul leaves your body and you're mentally updating your resume while simultaneously wondering if anyone would notice if you just... disappeared forever. It's the digital equivalent of thinking you're practicing your golf swing but actually launching a ball through your neighbor's window. Except instead of breaking glass, you've just broken the entire company. Whoops!

Answered January 7, 2015 If you are writing an operating system, I suggest you use C. If you are writing a very complex application where execution speed is extremely important, I suggest you use C. If time to market is key, but execution speed is not important, I suggest you use python. If your boss told you: "do it in Java or you are fired" I suggest you use Java and look for a better workplace. 104.5k views View Upvoters
