That's not a lottery win, that's a prison sentence with extra steps. The sheer absurdity of this fake "ad lottery" perfectly captures the developer mindset when encountering dark patterns in UX design. It's the digital equivalent of "Your free trial has ended, but you can work in our coal mines to extend it!" Nobody asked for this feature, nobody wants this feature, and yet here it is, presented as if you should be grateful. This is what happens when product managers have fever dreams about "engagement metrics" and "user retention strategies." Someone actually sat in a meeting and thought this was a good idea. That person probably also writes code without comments.

The joke hinges on the double meaning of "executed" in programming versus real life. In code, statements are lines that perform actions and are "executed" by the compiler or interpreter. Comments, on the other hand, are ignored during execution—they're just notes for humans. So the statement was "scared" because it was going to be executed (run by the computer), while the comment could chill out since it would be completely ignored. It's basically the programming equivalent of being sent to the gallows versus getting a free pass!

Someone's trying to communicate with their computer like it's 2045 and AI has taken over web development. They're literally asking their machine to build a responsive website with big pictures, custom fonts, fancy menus with "whooosh" animations, and fast load times—all in plain English. Then signs off with "Thanks, Human" like they're the robot giving orders. The "PS no bugs :)" is chef's kiss. Yeah buddy, just tell the computer "no bugs" and they'll magically disappear. If only it worked that way. We've been trying that with our code reviews for decades. Either this person is from the future where AI does everything, or they're a client who thinks programming works like ordering at a drive-thru. Spoiler: it's probably the latter.
