Someone took "cable management" and said "nah, I choose chaos." Running a long HDMI cable from your gaming PC to your living room TV to play Steam games? Sure, you could buy a Steam Deck or set up proper streaming. Or you could just wrap 50 feet of cable around a wooden spool like you're deploying ethernet in a data center circa 1995.
The engineering is simultaneously brilliant and cursed. It's the hardware equivalent of a 500-line function that works perfectly but makes your senior dev cry during code review. Technically functional? Absolutely. Following best practices? Not even close. But hey, latency is latency, and nothing beats a direct HDMI connection when you're trying to game on the couch.
Bonus points for the DisplayPort to HDMI adapter combo—because of course your GPU only has DisplayPort and your TV is from 2016. The spool storage is actually kind of genius though. It's like version control for cables: just roll it back when you're done.
