Now they're casually dropping phrases like "real-time dashboards" and "instant analytics" in meetings as if your database isn't already sweating bullets just handling the current load. Society envisions programmers as keyboard-smashing wizards typing at the speed of light. Reality? We spend 90% of our time staring at a single line of code while aggressively pressing Tab to see autocomplete suggestions. The only thing moving faster than our fingers is our imposter syndrome.

Discord literally had to implement a self-destruct feature because it was eating so much RAM that it became a liability. When your app is such a memory hog that you need to add a "restart before I crash the entire system" failsafe, maybe—just maybe—wrapping a website in Chromium wasn't the best architectural decision. The fact that 4GB is the threshold tells you everything. That's more RAM than entire operating systems used to need. But hey, at least Discord is self-aware enough to restart itself. Most Electron apps just sit there, bloated and unrepentant, slowly consuming your system resources like a digital black hole until you manually kill them. Fun fact: Each Electron app bundles its own copy of Chromium. So if you're running Discord, Slack, VS Code, and Spotify simultaneously, congratulations—you're running four separate browsers just to use what could've been native apps or actual websites.

Look at this poor dev crawling desperately toward their framework lifelines. The modern web developer's equivalent of withdrawal symptoms. "Just one more component library, I swear I can quit Angular anytime!" Remember when we built websites with just HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS? No dependency hell, no 500MB node_modules folder, no "npm audit fix" nightmares. Those were simpler times. Now we've created generations of devs who break into cold sweats at the thought of writing a querySelector instead of using their precious framework's state management. The irony is we've come full circle - the "revolutionary" solutions all eventually try to mimic the simplicity we abandoned in the first place. Date formatting is the reason we have trust issues.
