Content RandyWatson 2y 1 Award You're just using the wrong strategy. When I was a new developer someone taught me the secret. You can't just post the question you want the answer to. That gets you nowhere. Instead, post the code you want fixed with some stupid question. Brag about how awesome your code is and even question why dumb developers don't use the techniques you are employing. The more condescending the better. The way you should phrase your question must incorporate blaming other developers for your problem like, "How do I make my awesome code work with this idiot's shitty excuse for an API that I'm required to use because my boss is a dumb ass Then post your code. Your code will be tuned to perfection by angry devs everywhere. They will explain every piece of it to you likely in the most easy to understand (think condescending) way they can because you're an idiot noob who thinks their code is actually good. This will not be a nice explanation, but will be super clear to make sure you understand what an idiot you are. Plus, you will get every finely tuned code snippet possible to fix your solution. You just have to ignore all the mean shit the devs say to take you down a peg. Ask an honest question as a new developer, expect one of two things to happen: crickets or an insult about how you didn't bother to search for the answer. Reply 1.4K

The five stages of debugging: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally... "No. I decided I don't care." That comment with 292 likes is the digital equivalent of throwing your laptop out the window but with more dignity. Sometimes the true solution to a bug is just declaring psychological victory and moving on. Bonus points for doing it on New Year's Eve when you should be anywhere but Stack Overflow.

Remember when programmers were basically coding demigods who could bend computers to their will? Now we're just sad creatures Googling "how to center div" for the 500th time and begging AI to fix our mistakes. The golden age programmer wrote code without StackOverflow, crafted entire games in Assembly (you know, that language that makes you want to cry), manually fixed memory leaks with pointers, and literally hand-coded the software that put humans on the freaking moon. Meanwhile, modern programmers are trapped in Vim wondering why :q doesn't work, fixing one bug only to create three more like some kind of hydra nightmare, and asking ChatGPT to solve problems we should probably understand ourselves. The decline is real, folks. But hey, at least we have dark mode now.

OMG, the ABSOLUTE TRAGEDY of modern development! 😭 Left side: that magical moment when ChatGPT hands you the PERFECT solution on a silver platter (or orange, in this case). Right side: the rest of us programmers, DESPERATELY grabbing at that same solution like we've discovered the last chocolate bar on earth! The sheer DRAMA of it all! We're all just monkeys fighting over the same StackOverflow answers that ChatGPT regurgitates with confidence, while we're over here having existential crises about whether we even remember how to write a for-loop without AI assistance! The circle of developer life is now complete - from stealing code to having code stolen from us by our AI overlords!
