Average Python Programmer

That beautiful moment when you're feeling like a genius after writing a slick function that crunches numbers and saves results to a file. You test it again with fresh data, feeling confident... and watch in horror as it overwrites everything you just computed. Turns out you forgot to append instead of overwrite, or maybe you hardcoded the filename like an animal. Nothing humbles you faster than realizing your "reusable" function just nuked hours of work because you opened the file in write mode instead of append mode. One character difference between 'w' and 'a', infinite difference in suffering. Should've used a timestamp in that filename, but hindsight is 20/20 when you're staring at an empty file.

The ultimate developer freedom! Switching from C++ to Python is like escaping memory management prison. No more wrestling with pointers, incrementing variables manually, or dealing with those dreaded segmentation faults at 2AM. The garbage collector just... handles it all. Your RAM thanks you, your sleep schedule thanks you, and your mental health definitely thanks you. Meanwhile, your C++ code is waving goodbye like Woody and Buzz, wondering why you abandoned the thrill of manual memory allocation for the cushy comfort of Python's automatic management. Sure, you might miss the performance gains, but you'll never miss debugging a memory leak for 6 hours straight.

BUT I THINK THIS IS THE PYTHON.

When data scientists discover Python and R, they look at their old statistical software tools like they're finding flip phones in a drawer. Excel, STATA, SPSS, SAS, EViews, and Minitab—once the pride of statistics departments everywhere—now just expensive relics taking up memory and sanity. The real joke is that universities still charge students thousands to learn these dinosaurs while industry moved on years ago. Nothing says "I hate myself" quite like paying $8000 for a STATA license when pandas is right there, free, and won't make you want to throw your laptop into traffic.

Hollywood: "I'm in! We've breached the mainframe!" Reality: Eight print statements and a dream. The stark contrast between hacking scenes in movies (green text, progress bars, dramatic music) versus the actual code behind them (literally just a loop of print statements) is programming's greatest inside joke. No fancy algorithms, no binary scrolling across the screen—just a script that would make a CS101 student roll their eyes. The sad part? Some viewers think this is actually how cybersecurity works. Next time you see a hacker "bypassing the firewall" in 10 seconds, remember it's probably just a for-loop in disguise.
