You drop 80 bucks on a "AAA" game from a major studio with hundreds of developers, and it can't even detect your native resolution. Launches in some cursed 800x600 windowed mode and scatters your desktop icons like a drunk intern reorganizing the file server. Meanwhile, some solo dev selling their passion project for the price of a sandwich somehow ships with perfect display settings and respects your monitor setup.
Triple-A studios have entire QA departments and still can't figure out what year it is. The indie dev probably coded their game in a basement using a framework held together with duct tape and prayers, yet they understand the basic concept of reading system display settings. Really makes you wonder where that 80€ budget went. Spoiler: it wasn't the programmers.
