Always Doom

That moment when your innocent game creation suddenly attracts the wrong kind of attention. For the uninitiated, "R34" refers to "Rule 34" of the internet: "If it exists, there is adult content of it." Game devs spend countless hours perfecting gameplay mechanics, narrative arcs, and character development—only to watch in horror as the internet's first contribution is... explicit fan art. The duality of the facial expressions perfectly captures the mental journey from "My game is getting noticed!" to "Wait, not like that!"

Back in the day, game devs were basically wizards who could fit an entire PlayStation game into a 64 MB N64 cartridge through sheer coding sorcery and optimization black magic. They were out here writing assembly code by candlelight, compressing textures with their bare hands, and making every single byte COUNT. Fast forward to today and we've got 300 GB behemoths that somehow STILL launch with missing features, game-breaking bugs, and a roadmap promising "the rest of the game will arrive via DLC." Like, bestie, you had 300,000 MB and couldn't finish it? The old devs are rolling in their ergonomic office chairs. We went from "every kilobyte is precious" to "eh, just download another 80 GB patch" real quick. The doge's disappointed face says it all—we traded craftsmanship for storage space and called it progress. Iconic.

BETHESDA STUDIOS, I'M BEGGING YOU! Stop re-releasing Skyrim and give us a new Elder Scrolls already! The audacity of rejecting a new game (TES VI) to instead milk every last septim out of Skyrim (14 years old) and now they're digging up MORROWIND (20 years old)!? I've bought Skyrim on more platforms than I've had relationships! At this point, Todd Howard could sell me a sweet roll in real life and I'd probably buy that too. THE HORSE ARMOR WAS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE MADNESS!

The great GPU wars continue. Intel Arc arrives as "A New Hope" in December 2024, only for NVIDIA to immediately crush that hope with RTX 5070 in January as "The Empire Strikes Back." Then AMD swoops in with RX 9070 XT in March as "Return of the Jedi." Just another predictable chapter in the never-ending saga where your wallet is the true casualty. The Force is strong with price gouging.

So you're telling me a game dev can spawn a LITERAL DEMON erupting from molten lava with particle effects and physics calculations that would make Einstein weep, but adding a scarf to the player model? Suddenly we're asking them to solve world hunger. The absolute AUDACITY of suggesting something as simple as cloth physics after they just casually coded an apocalyptic hellspawn summoning ritual. It's giving "I can build a rocket ship but I can't fold a fitted sheet" energy. Game development priorities are truly an enigma wrapped in a riddle, served with a side of spaghetti code.

The ultimate first-world gamer problem: having a rig so powerful you have to deliberately handicap it to prevent thermal meltdown. Nothing says "suffering from success" quite like limiting your frames per second because your GPU is too good at its job. Meanwhile, the rest of us are over here trying to squeeze one more year out of graphics cards that sound like jet engines when running Minesweeper.
