Cloud providers really out here treating RAM selection like a Square checkout screen. "Would you like to round up your server specs to support data centers?" Sure, let me just donate my entire AWS bill to keep the lights on in us-east-1. Next they'll ask if I want to tip Jeff Bezos 20% for excellent service.
The "Custom" option is basically saying "we know you're going to pick this anyway because our pre-selected tiers are hilariously inadequate for your actual needs, but we had to make you feel guilty about it first." It's the digital equivalent of that tip jar staring you down at the self-checkout.
Fun fact: Data centers consume about 1-2% of global electricity. So technically, you ARE supporting them with every instance you spin up. They just forgot to mention you're already paying for it in your monthly bill.
