The eternal web server gang war continues. Apache had its moment in the sun for like two decades, but now it's the equivalent of that one friend still using Internet Explorer. Meanwhile, Nginx rolled up with better performance, lower memory footprint, and reverse proxy capabilities that actually make sense. Now everyone's jumping ship faster than developers abandoning their side projects. The configuration syntax alone is reason enough to switch—Apache's .htaccess files are basically hieroglyphics at this point. Nginx came through and said "what if we made a web server that doesn't eat RAM like it's going out of style?" and the dev community collectively said "say less."
