When you've got a REST API to build and a deadline that was yesterday, suddenly every HTTP method becomes "POST with extra steps." Need to update something? POST. Delete? POST with a flag. Retrieve data? Believe it or not, also POST.

Sure, REST has these beautiful semantic HTTP verbs - PUT for updates, DELETE for deletions, PATCH for partial updates, HEAD for metadata checks. But who has time for that when your frontend dev is screaming about CORS preflight requests, your legacy proxy doesn't support anything but GET and POST, and your PM just asked if the API will be ready in an hour?

So yeah, everything gets shoved into that POST hole. It works, it's simple, and you can always refactor it later (narrator: they never refactored it later). The API purists will cry, but your deployment will be on time.
