And on the far right, the enlightened souls who've mastered enough to realize that "mediocre" is just corporate-speak for "has a life outside of Stack Overflow." The true galaxy brain move is accepting your mediocrity while still getting paid the same as the try-hards.

Marketing folks rejecting actual algorithms while embracing "AI" is peak corporate comedy. They don't want the nerdy math stuff—they want the shiny buzzword they can slap on everything! Never mind that AI literally runs on algorithms... but why let technical reality get in the way of a good slide deck? Operating systems specialists get the Woody treatment - still relevant but definitely sweating. Then there's the compiler students... burning in literal hell, questioning every life choice that led them to parsing syntax trees and debugging segmentation faults for eternity. The compiler specialization isn't just hard mode - it's masochism with extra steps. And yet, those compiler wizards are the ones who make everything else possible. Suffering builds character, they say... mostly to justify the trauma.

When someone asks "what's a rectangle?", normal people just see a simple shape. Mathematicians bust out the formal definition with diagonals, breadth, and length measurements like they're preparing for a calculus final. And then there's us software engineers... two dots. Why traverse the entire closet tree structure when you can maintain a small, fast-access buffer of your most frequently used items?
