When someone asks why you don't use Lua, you can't just say "the syntax makes me want to commit unspeakable acts of self-harm," so you smile politely at the party instead. Look, we all have our irrational hatreds in programming. Some people can't stand Python's whitespace, others break out in hives at the sight of JavaScript's type coercion. But Lua? That's a special kind of torture with its end keywords everywhere, 1-indexed arrays (who hurt you, Lua creators?), and the whole "metatables" thing that feels like someone explaining OOP after three shots of tequila. The real kicker is that Lua is actually pretty solid for embedded scripting, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants—and it wants literally any other syntax.
