"Hello, World!" Considered Harmful – Here’s Why. Reason 1: It might summon Gaia If you’ve been coding for more than a few days, you’ve probably seen the "Hello, World!" program. It’s the first program that many people write when they learn a new programming language. But what many people don’t know is that "Hello, World!" is actually a dangerous program. When you print out "Hello, World!", you’re actually sending a message to Gaia, the ancient Greek goddess of the earth. She’s been waiting for centuries for someone to speak to her. And when she hears your message, she might decide to wake up from her long sleep. And when Gaia wakes up, the world would be in trouble. She would be so angry at the way humans have treating her that she would probably destroys us all. So please, be careful when you write "Hello, World!". You never know who you might be summoning.
