You know that feeling when you're desperately job hunting and your standards have dropped lower than your test coverage? Zero research done, no idea what tech stack they use, couldn't even be bothered to check if they're a blockchain startup or a legacy Java shop. But hey, you're showing up anyway because rent is due and your current company just announced "exciting new changes" (layoffs). Walking into that interview room with the confidence of someone who's about to wing it harder than their production deployments on Friday afternoons. The interviewer asks "So what do you know about our company?" and you're mentally scrambling like trying to fix a segfault without a debugger. Time to dust off those soft skills and hope they're more interested in your "passion for learning" than actual preparation. The chicken walking into KFC really captures that beautiful blend of courage and questionable decision-making that defines the modern developer job search.

You know that feeling when your professor explains a function with like 2-3 parameters and you're sitting there all confident like Megamind ready to conquer the world? Then you open the actual production codebase and BAM—you're staring at a function signature that looks like someone's entire grocery list had a baby with a config file. Suddenly you're doing advanced calculus just to figure out which parameter does what, because OF COURSE none of them have descriptive names and the documentation is from 2014. The transition from "I understand functions!" to "what fresh hell is this" has never been more violently accurate.

You know that feeling when you write a comment that's so obvious it actually makes the code less clear? Yeah, we've all been there. "The patio is currently not open because it is closed" is the spiritual equivalent of writing // increment i by 1 above i++ . The real tragedy is that whoever wrote that sign probably felt productive doing it. Same energy as when you're trying to hit those "lines of code" metrics and start adding comments like // setting variable to true followed by isOpen = true; We write comments to explain the "why," not to narrate what's already painfully obvious. But hey, at least they documented something, which is more than most codebases can say.

A vanity license plate declaring "I FORTH ❤️" is either the most beautiful declaration of love for a stack-based programming language from the 1970s, or someone who really wanted "I LOVE FORTH" but ran out of characters and budget. Either way, this person's commitment to reverse Polish notation is stronger than most people's commitment to their relationships. The real question is whether they also organize their groceries in LIFO order.

Sixteen years of experience, countless merge conflicts, and a PhD in rebase strategies later... still Googling "how to undo git commit" like it's day one. The cheems meme format nails it here—Linus Torvalds created this version control masterpiece, and we're all just bonking ourselves with the same baseball bat of confusion decade after decade. Some things never change: taxes, death, and frantically searching Stack Overflow at 3 AM because you accidentally pushed to main instead of your feature branch. Git doesn't get easier; you just get better at pretending you know what git reflog does.
