Sure kid, go ahead - break production, summon demons from the seventh circle of dependency hell, and explain to the CEO why customers can't pay us anymore. Twenty years in this industry has taught me one truth: if it's ugly but works, it's not ugly.

Our first webmaster was the first person to ever break a link on the web, when he moved the location of a webpage on UCC's servers (9th website in the world). without telling Tim Berners-Lee. Suffice it to say, such a change resulted in the need to error handle such an occurance, and the 404 was born. Thanks to our own Peter Flynn. Peter retired in August 2018 but his impact on UCC, Ireland and ultimately the world won't be forgotten!

Meanwhile, everyone knows those words are basically a summoning ritual for 17 new bugs to magically appear. It's the programming equivalent of saying "what could possibly go wrong?" right before EVERYTHING goes catastrophically wrong!

Regular scientists question why something works. Computer scientists stare blankly at their screens at 3AM wondering why their perfectly valid code refuses to run. Then it suddenly works without changing anything. Science has rules. Programming has mood swings.
