Be Very Afraid Of Git

When your office fire safety protocol understands developer priorities better than your project manager. The sign lists emergency steps: save your code, commit, push to origin, and THEN maybe consider not dying in flames. Step 4 is clearly optional. Perfect example of priority scheduling where critical tasks (preserving that uncommitted code you've been working on for 6 hours) get executed before low-priority ones (survival). The building can burn down, but losing those changes? Absolutely unacceptable. Your life has a lower priority queue than your Git workflow. Honestly though, whoever made this sign gets it. They understand that developers would rather face a fiery death than explain to their team why they lost all their work because they didn't push before evacuating.

When your friend's entire development philosophy is "make one version that works" and their disaster recovery plan is "ctrl+z", you know you're in for a wild ride! This is that chaotic developer who's never heard of Git because "why track versions when I can just not break things?" The absolute confidence of someone who codes without a safety net is both terrifying and oddly impressive. It's like watching someone juggle flaming chainsaws while saying "relax, I've never dropped one... yet."

That moment when your code review turns into an interrogation session. "I see you've implemented this feature without documentation... interesting . Now, before I approve your PR, tell me what you thought about that React conference keynote? Didn't catch it? What a shame. Looks like this merge might take a while..." The dark side of open source maintainers that GitHub doesn't want you to see.

So someone just discovered that "fork," "branch," and "pipe" aren't kitchen utensils, plumbing terms, or what your uncle does after Thanksgiving dinner. The search history reads like a programmer speedrunning their first week of bootcamp, and naturally, the only logical next step is googling where to buy a rubber duck for debugging purposes. Plot twist: the rubber duck becomes the most stable relationship they'll ever have. It listens without judgment, never interrupts, and somehow helps solve bugs just by existing. Meanwhile, the partner's sitting there wondering why they're losing to a $2 bath toy. For the uninitiated: rubber duck debugging is when you explain your code line-by-line to an inanimate object, and somehow that makes you realize your mistake. It's cheaper than therapy and more effective than Stack Overflow at 3 AM.

When your PR shows "-9,953" lines of code and your manager gives you a thumbs up. Nothing says "senior developer" like knowing what code not to write. The most efficient code is the code that doesn't exist. Somewhere a project manager is frantically updating their burndown chart while wondering how to report "negative progress" to stakeholders.

Ah, the duality of open source maintainers. You generously dump your code on GitHub for the world to use, then transform into a territorial feline when someone dares to suggest changes. That angry cat surrounded by watermelons perfectly captures the "it's free but I'll still judge your pull request like you insulted my ancestry" energy. The progression from "here's my gift to humanity" to "your code is trash and so are you" happens faster than a poorly optimized for-loop.
