Someone whispered sweet lies about AI optimizing C++ better than humans, and you believed them. Then you discovered that gcc's -O4 optimization level is so aggressive it literally just sends your code to Jeff Dean (Google's legendary engineer) for a complete rewrite.
Plot twist: -O4 doesn't actually exist in gcc. The highest is -O3. Anything beyond that and the compiler just shrugs and defaults back to -O3 anyway. So basically, you're getting the same optimization while the AI is confidently hallucinating compiler flags that would require divine intervention from programming deities.
Trust the AI for optimization advice, they said. It'll be fine, they said. Meanwhile, your code is sitting there waiting for Jeff Dean to personally respond to your pull request.
