The Display Technology Survival Contest

The eternal struggle of chasing hardware upgrades! While everyone's hyping 8K resolution, some of us are still running the same potato hardware since the Clinton administration. It's like Moore's Law meets financial reality—your GPU budget is inversely proportional to your rent payments. That graphics card you're eyeing costs more than your first car, but hey, those extra pixels in Minecraft are totally worth it. Meanwhile your IDE still lags when you type too fast.

Gabe Newell depicted as a religious figure, because that's basically what he is to gamers desperately waiting for GPU-accelerated AI workloads to stop eating all the graphics cards. The joke here is that crypto miners and AI bros have been devouring data center GPUs like they're going out of style, leaving regular folks unable to afford hardware. So naturally, we're praying for divine intervention in the form of... locusts? But make them selective locusts that only consume AI infrastructure. Very biblical, very practical. The gaming community has basically been watching Nvidia's entire production line get redirected to ChatGPT's cousins while they're stuck with integrated graphics from 2015.

When you understand how technology actually works, you realize that "smart home" is just a fancy way of saying "200 attack vectors living rent-free in your house." Mechanical locks can't be phished, mechanical windows don't need security patches, and OpenWRT routers are basically the programmer's way of saying "I trust myself more than I trust Cisco." Meanwhile, tech enthusiasts are out here treating their homes like beta testing environments for every IoT device that promises convenience. Voice assistants? That's just always-on microphones with extra steps. Internet-connected thermostats? Because what could possibly go wrong with letting your HVAC join a botnet? The real power move is the 2004 printer with a loaded gun next to it. Because if two decades of dealing with printer drivers has taught us anything, it's that printers are inherently evil and must be dealt with using extreme prejudice. PC LOAD LETTER? More like PC LOAD LEAD.

Top panel: Guy literally crying over his RTX 4090 because it can't push enough frames on his ultra-expensive monitor. Meanwhile, bottom panel: Chad with a 3060 Ti just vibing with his 1080p setup that'll run Doom Eternal at max settings until the heat death of the universe. The real irony? Top guy probably only plays Valorant and checks email. Bottom guy is just happy his PC boots without catching fire.

The GPU market in a nutshell: AMD abandons their still-in-production RX 6600 like it's last week's leftovers, while Nvidia's over here giving 12-year-old GTX 750 Ti cards the royal treatment with fresh drivers and game optimizations. It's like watching one parent forget their toddler at the grocery store while the other helps their 30-year-old son with his taxes. No wonder Nvidia's charging kidney prices—they're supporting cards older than some of their customers' children!

When the documentation said "bare metal programming" but you took it too literally! Someone's gone and filled their CPU socket with copper wires instead of an actual processor, and now they're proudly declaring "Finally finished installing the Processor 👍" like they've accomplished something revolutionary. That's not how you achieve parallel processing, my friend! Those copper strands aren't going to execute your code, unless your program is "short circuit everything." The only thing this is processing is your motherboard's last will and testament.
