The ABSOLUTE PEAK of solo developer dignity! 💅 Creating a pull request on your own repository and then dramatically switching hats to approve it yourself is the coding equivalent of giving yourself a medal! It's that special moment when you pretend there's an actual code review happening, but it's just you having a conversation with yourself like some kind of Git schizophrenia. "Hmm, this code looks FABULOUS, darling! Who wrote it? Oh wait—IT WAS ME!" The ceremonial self-merge: simultaneously the most pathetic and most empowering ritual in solo development history!

So AI is supposedly replacing all of us and making engineers obsolete, right? The CTO hasn't touched code since the Bush administration, and everyone's convinced that Claude can build entire apps while we sip margaritas. But the second there's a security breach or source code leak? Suddenly it's "human error" and we're all scrambling to find the poor soul who forgot to add .env to .gitignore . The double standard is chef's kiss. When things work: "AI is amazing!" When things break: "Which one of you idiots pushed to production on a Friday?" Can't have it both ways, folks. Either we're obsolete or we're responsible. Pick a lane.

That satisfying moment when your PR gets blocked because you thought you could sneak in code without tests. The CI/CD pipeline becomes your passive-aggressive coworker who just won't let it slide. The developer's wearing their "test hat" (literally) and channeling their inner code reviewer energy with that stern "I require tests" speech bubble. Meanwhile, their shirt just says "test shirt" because apparently we're going full method actor on testing enforcement here. Branch protection rules doing exactly what they're supposed to do: keeping untested garbage from polluting main. Sure, you could override it with admin privileges, but then you'd have to live with the shame and the inevitable production bugs. Choose wisely.

You've spent hours carefully building your feature, tested it locally, got it reviewed, pushed it up, and it's sitting there all nice and organized ready to merge. Then some maniac on your team merges their branch first and suddenly your pristine PR looks like a Lego explosion at a daycare. Now you're untangling merge conflicts that make no sense because they touched the same file you did for "unrelated" changes. The worst part? Half the time it's formatting changes or someone reorganizing imports. You went from "ship it" to "git merge --abort" real quick. Welcome to collaborative development, where your perfectly stacked blocks become chaos the moment you look away.

Why learn Git commands when you can just keep failing until Git tells you exactly what to type? The classic "reject, read error, copy-paste solution" workflow that's gotten us through countless pushes. Sure, I could memorize --set-upstream , but why bother when Git's error messages are basically Stack Overflow with better response times? It's not laziness, it's efficiency!

Someone really thought they had a gotcha moment with the whole "fork it or shut up" argument. Yeah, open source is free like soup for the homeless—except apparently some people think that means you're obligated to enjoy whatever gets ladled into your bowl without complaint. Just because maintainers are generous enough to release their code doesn't mean users can't have opinions about it. Constructive feedback isn't "pissing in the soup," it's literally how software improves. But sure, let's all just silently use broken features because we didn't personally write 10,000 lines of code ourselves. Solid logic there.
