It Scares Me: Git Rebase Edition

Starts with a simple rebase. Then you're fixing conflicts with amend and continue. Next thing you know, you're aborting and hard resetting. Finally, you just merge the branch like a defeated circus performer who's dead inside but still has to smile for the audience. The transformation from "I know what I'm doing" to "I have no idea what's happening anymore" is complete.

The evolution of a developer's brain during code reviews is truly a spectacle to behold. First, there's the primitive defensive response: "What, why?" - the intellectual equivalent of a caveman discovering fire and being terrified. Then comes the middle-evolution stage: "It's not my code, I'm just adding this feature but I'll totally refactor it later don't even worry about it" - the classic "temporary" solution that will outlive the heat death of the universe. The promise to refactor is the programming equivalent of "I'll start my diet on Monday." Finally, enlightenment: "Yeah, I know." The transcendent state where you've accepted your code is indeed garbage, but you've made peace with it. This is peak developer nirvana - when you stop fighting reality and embrace the beautiful dumpster fire you've created.

Top panel: Blissful ignorance. You commit your code thinking you've solved everything. Middle panel: Reality check begins. QA finds those edge cases you conveniently forgot existed. Bottom panel: Full existential dread. DevOps messages you at 2AM about the production server that's now somehow mining cryptocurrency in Paraguay. The three stages of deployment grief. No developer has ever experienced the mythical fourth panel: "Everything worked perfectly."
