The tweet says "this was the guy taking down GitHub all the time" and honestly? Believable. GitHub's infrastructure is robust, but even AWS would sweat trying to render that dropdown menu. The poor database queries trying to list all those branches probably timeout before the heat death of the universe.
Someone on the team really said "I'll create a new branch for every single commit" or maybe they automated branch creation and forgot to add a cleanup script. Either way, this repository is now a monument to what happens when you don't enforce branch hygiene. Git gc is sobbing somewhere.
