The joke here is that Epic has been hemorrhaging money on their free game strategy for so long that the logical next step is just giving away thousand-dollar GPUs and RAM sticks. Because nothing says "sustainable business model" like literally giving away the means of production. Tim Sweeney's credit card must be crying in a corner somewhere.

Nothing says "I know it's rough around the edges but please just give it a chance" quite like a wild animal screaming from inside a garbage bin. The duality of feeling like your project is simultaneously your precious baby AND absolute garbage that you're weirdly protective about. That moment when you've spent 47 sleepless nights on your "revolutionary" game/app/website and deep down you know it's held together with duct tape and prayers, but you're still out there hustling like a garbage marsupial.

PC gamers proudly flex their RTX 4090s and think they're ready to dominate any game, only to discover that modern AAA titles are optimized about as well as spaghetti code written during a hackathon. You've got a GPU that could render the entire observable universe, but the game still stutters because it demands 24GB of VRAM to load a single texture of a rock. Game devs have basically decided that VRAM is infinite and optimization is a myth passed down by ancient programmers. Why compress textures when you can just ship 150GB of uncompressed 8K assets that nobody will notice anyway? The real kicker is watching your $2000 GPU get brought to its knees by a game that looks marginally better than something from 2015. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch is running entire open-world games on what's essentially a smartphone chip from 2015, proving that optimization is indeed possible when you actually care about it.

The GPU market is the ultimate gaslighting experience. Those brave souls who splurged on the RTX 3060 with 12GB VRAM in 2021 were mocked mercilessly by the "wait for next gen" crowd. Fast forward to 2023-2025, and NVIDIA's playing memory limbo with newer cards having less VRAM than their predecessors. The 3060 owners are sitting there like Thanos, watching the sun rise on a grateful universe of AI models and textures that barely fit in 8GB. Vindication tastes sweet when you're the only one who can run Stable Diffusion without your computer having an existential crisis.

You know that feeling when you buy a game on sale, play it for 2 hours, get distracted by another sale, and suddenly you've got 247 games with a 12% completion rate? Yeah, that's every programmer's Steam library. We're collectors, not finishers. The kid taking one bite out of each apple and moving on is the perfect metaphor.
