What Is This Missing Guys

You know that feeling when you accidentally step in dog poop on the sidewalk? Well, imagine that exact same visceral disgust, but it's GitHub Copilot's logo on your shoe. The horror! The betrayal! The absolute AUDACITY of AI-generated code sticking to your sole like some kind of cursed autocomplete barnacle. Nothing says "I don't trust your suggestions" quite like treating Copilot like hazardous waste material. Sure, it can write entire functions faster than you can say "Stack Overflow," but at what cost? Your dignity? Your sense of accomplishment? The pure, unadulterated joy of spending three hours debugging a semicolon? Some developers would rather scrape their shoes clean than let AI taint their precious handcrafted artisanal code. The drama is REAL.

Everyone's eager to complain about DLSS 5 and Nvidia's AI marketing theatrics, but the moment someone suggests actually switching to AMD or Intel GPUs? Crickets. Complete radio silence. It's the tech equivalent of everyone saying they'll boycott a company while simultaneously refreshing the checkout page. We love to hate Nvidia's monopolistic tendencies and their "just buy our $2000 card" energy, but when push comes to shove, nobody's actually willing to sacrifice those sweet, sweet CUDA cores and driver stability. The delusion is real. The Stockholm syndrome is strong. The RTX 5090 pre-orders will still crash the website.

The corporate dream of running AI on budget hardware is the tech equivalent of asking someone to build you a Ferrari with Lego parts and a rubber band. First they want AI to handle its own authentication (because security is just a suggestion, right?), then they want to run it on a $5 VPS that struggles to host a static HTML page. And the AI's response? Pure existential dread that perfectly captures what goes through my mind during requirements gathering meetings. Next they'll ask if it can run in a browser, offline, with no dependencies, while making coffee and filing their taxes.

So AI walks up to a developer, asks "You made this?" and the dev proudly says "I made this." Cut to AI literally taking credit for the same code. The developer's entire contribution was basically feeding prompts to an LLM and hitting enter a few times. GitHub's trending page has become a graveyard of repositories where the most challenging technical decision was whether to use GPT-4 or Claude. The commit history? Three commits: initial setup, AI-generated code dump, and "fix typo in README." Stars? 10k. Actual human-written lines? Maybe the .gitignore. We've reached the point where "software engineer" and "professional prompt writer" are becoming indistinguishable job titles. At least the impostor syndrome is distributed equally now.

The beautiful irony of tech infrastructure: society said electric cars would collapse the grid, but somehow data centers consuming the electricity of small nations to train AI models and mine crypto? Totally fine, completely sustainable, nothing to see here. Your average data center pulls more juice than thousands of Teslas combined, yet nobody bats an eye. But suggest Grandma gets an EV and suddenly everyone's an electrical engineer worried about grid capacity. Meanwhile, ChatGPT is over here burning enough power to light up a city just to tell you how to center a div. Fun fact: A single large data center can consume 50+ megawatts continuously. That's enough to power about 37,000 homes. But sure, Karen's Nissan Leaf is the real problem.

The classic interrogation format where someone keeps inflating their job title until they're forced to admit they just make webpages. Starting with "I use AI to write code" (very impressive, very 2024), escalating to "I develop enterprise applications" (now we're talking six figures), and finally landing on the truth: "I make webpages." It's the tech industry equivalent of saying you're a "culinary artist" when you microwave Hot Pockets. Nothing wrong with making webpages—someone's gotta do it—but let's not pretend your landing page for Karen's yoga studio is the next AWS. The "Microsoft Certified HTML Professional" title is the cherry on top. HTML isn't even a programming language, and Microsoft definitely doesn't certify you in it. But hey, put it on LinkedIn anyway. Nobody checks.
