Expectation vs. AI Reality

Ah yes, the classic "medicine bottle labeled as ChatGPT" with a terrified new programmer staring at it. Remember when we had to actually learn how to code? Now junior devs just ask ChatGPT "write me a React component that fetches data and handles errors" and boom—instant senior developer! Back in my day, we debugged with print statements and cried ourselves to sleep reading documentation. The future is here, and it's making all those hours I spent memorizing syntax feel like a complete waste of time.

Someone built an entire production app using thousands of AI-generated prompts over several months, admits they don't code or understand HTML/JS, and is now confused why nobody wants to help fix it. They insist "vibecoder skill IS engineering" which is basically like saying watching Gordon Ramsay makes you a chef. The best part? They're calling actual developers "dinosaurs" for not embracing their prompt-driven development methodology. Nothing says "I'm a serious engineer" quite like having zero ability to debug your own production code and getting defensive about it on Reddit. The gatekeeping comment at the top is chef's kiss. Expecting someone to understand the code running their production app is apparently now considered elitist gatekeeping. We've reached peak 2024.

It's the perfect illustration of our coding dilemma: get polite, possibly hallucinated answers from an AI that treats you like a fragile child, or brave StackOverflow where your "simple question" will be closed as duplicate, marked as trivial, and someone will suggest you shouldn't be programming at all. Choose your poison!

THE BETRAYAL! 😱 Look at those innocent browser icons up top, flaunting their unique personalities like they're special snowflakes. Then BAM! Put on those reality glasses and what do you see? CHROMIUM. CHROMIUM EVERYWHERE. It's like finding out all your favorite "craft" sodas come from the same factory! Google's just sitting in the corner twirling its evil mustache while Firefox desperately tries to remind us it's the only true rebel left in this Chrome-ified dystopia. I'm having an existential crisis over here!

Tech companies went from "We're disrupting the future!" to "We're disrupting your employment status!" faster than a poorly optimized query. The only thing growing faster than AI investments is the number of "open to work" profile badges. The worst part? Those same companies laying off thousands are posting record profits. Nothing says "strategic restructuring" like firing the entire engineering team that built your platform while the CEO buys another yacht.

From using LLMs to create marketing materials to weaponizing them against themselves. It's the circle of AI life. Companies now build fake websites specifically designed to be scraped by LLMs during training, just so their marketing garbage shows up when users ask for recommendations. Diabolical? Yes. Effective? Unfortunately.
