The eternal dance of project estimation: Sales promises it tomorrow because they're closing deals, PM negotiates up to 1 week because they're "being realistic," Tech lead knows it's actually 1 month because they've seen this rodeo before... and then there's the dev team, chilling at the bottom of the ocean with a 2-month estimate because they're the ones who actually have to build the damn thing. Sales is always playing fast and loose with reality, PM is trying to keep everyone happy, and the poor tech lead is drowning somewhere in between optimism and truth. Meanwhile, the dev team has already calculated the time for: requirements changing 47 times, mystery bugs, that one dependency that breaks everything, code reviews, meetings about meetings, and oh yeah—actually writing code. Spoiler alert: The dev team's estimate is probably still too optimistic. Add another month for production issues.

Ah, the mythical linear scaling of development teams! The PM hears "one dev = one month" and brilliantly concludes "ten devs = three days!" Because clearly, software development works exactly like assembling furniture—just throw more people at it! What the PM doesn't realize is that those 10 devs will spend 2.9 days in meetings discussing how to split the work, setting up version control, and explaining to each other why their approach is superior. Star Citizen started development in 2011. The interviewer on the left has aged visibly. The developer on the right? Still smiling like the release date is "just around the corner." At this point, Star Citizen is less of a game and more of a generational project—like cathedrals in medieval times, except with more microtransactions for spaceship JPEGs. The game has been in development so long that entire programming languages have been born, peaked, and fallen out of favor. Developers who started on this project fresh out of college now have teenagers. The codebase probably has comments like "TODO: fix before launch" from 2013 that have achieved artifact status. It's the software equivalent of scope creep achieving sentience. Every sprint planning meeting probably ends with "just one more feature" while the backlog grows like technical debt in a startup that just raised Series B.

When clients say "I hope you understood the requirement properly," they're basically admitting their requirements are a Frankenstein's monster of half-baked ideas and contradictory demands.
