Content 7.2.2 Creating Arrays Unlike declarations for primitive data type variables, the declaration of an array varial not allocate any space in memory for the array. It creates only a storage location for th ence to an array. If a variable does not contain a reference to an array, the value of the v is null. You cannot assign elements to an array unless it has already been created. A array variable is declared, you can create an array by using the new operator and ass reference to the variable with the following syntax: arrayRefVar new elementType arraySize; This statement does two things: (1) it creates an array using new elementType arraySi and (2) it assigns the reference of the newly created array to the variable arrayRefVar. of the arra artable can be combitted in one statement as elementType arrayRefVar new elementType arraySize; or elementType arrayRefVar new elementType arraySize; double myList new double 10; This statement declares an array variable, myList, creates an array of 10 elements of double type, and assigns its reference to myList. To assign values to the elements, use the syntax arrayRefVar index value; For example, the following code initializes the array: myList 0 5.6: myList 1 4.5: myList 2 3.3; myList 3 13.2; myList 4 4.0; myList 5 34.33; myList 6 34.0; myList71 45.45; myList 8 99.993; myList 9 11123; This array is illustrated in Figure 7.1. double (I myList double 10) Pro 80 000 DO

You've tried every flexbox and CSS Grid property known to humanity, consulted three different Stack Overflow threads, sacrificed a rubber duck to the coding gods, and yet that div sits there like a stubborn toddler refusing to move to the middle of the screen. The SpongeBob image of Squidward lying in bed, exhausted and defeated, captures that exact moment when you realize you've thrown literally every centering technique at the problem and it's STILL not centered. Maybe the div just enjoys watching you suffer. Pro tip: Did you remember to set the parent container's height? No? There's your problem. You're welcome.

These are the four mathematical operations I was taught during my childhood education, and their operators, t; , are very familiar. I was not taught , the modulus operator, which I recently discovered can be quite useful and interesting in its own right. The modulus operator, written in most programming languages as or mod, performs what is known as the modulo operation. You next response, understandably, might be, "That doesn't clarify anything," so let's take a closer look: The modulus operator - or more precisely, the modulo operation - is a way to determine the remainder of a division operation. Instead of returning the result of the division, the modulo operation returns the whole number remainder. Some examples may help illustrate this, as it's not necessarily intuitive the first time you encounter it: 5 1 0 5 divided by 1 equals 5, with a remainder of 0 5 2 1 5 divided by 2 equals 2, with a remainder of 1 It may be helpful to think back to your early math lessons, before you learned fractions and decimals. Mathematics with whole numbers behaves differently - when dividing numbers that aren't even multiples, there's always some amount left over. That remainder is what the modulo operation returns. If this seems strange, boring, or not particularly useful, bear with me a bit longer - or just skip ahead to the use cases. The Modulo Operation Expressed As a Formula As one final means of explication, for those more mathematically inclined, here's a formula that describes the modulo operation: a - (n floor (an)) By substituting values, we can see how the modulo operation works in practice: 100 7 2 100, n 7 100 - (7 floor (1007)) 2 If you don't find the formula helpful, don't worry - I didn't either at first Some people find this abstract representation helps deepen or clarify their understanding of the operation, but you don't need to know it A final note here - if you're wondering how the modulo operation functions with negative numbers or decimals, that's a bit outside the scope of this article. For our purposes here, we'll only be dealing with positive integers. return num 2

JavaScript's Array.sort() is the embodiment of "task failed successfully." It gives you a sorting method that converts numbers to strings by default (because why wouldn't you?), mutates your original array like it owns the place, and produces the legendary [1, 10, 2, 21] result that's haunted every junior dev's dreams. Then, years of Stack Overflow questions later, JavaScript blessed us with Array.toSorted() - a non-mutating version that fixes exactly ONE of the three problems. You still need to pass a comparator function like (a, b) => a - b to sort numbers properly, and the docs still use that cursed [1, 10, 2, 21] example that looks totally fine until you realize it's lexicographically sorted. The gigachad energy here is JavaScript's unwavering commitment to backwards compatibility - even when the default behavior is objectively wrong for 90% of use cases. Beautiful chaos.

Ah, the classic "npm post-install job hunt" saga! The maintainer of core-js (a critical library that half the internet depends on) is literally begging for financial support and a job in the terminal output every time someone installs his package. Fast forward to GitHub where someone opened an issue asking if he ever found employment, only to discover that years later, he's still jobless... and possibly in prison? Nothing says "sustainable open source" quite like maintaining code that powers billions of dollars of tech while simultaneously being unemployed and incarcerated. The real 404 error was the career opportunities that never loaded.
