Meanwhile, unpaid open source devs are basically holding the entire thing together with their bare hands while AI and Microsoft do... whatever they're doing up there. Fun fact: Sharks actually DO bite undersea internet cables, likely because the electromagnetic fields mess with their sensory organs. Google had to wrap their cables in Kevlar-like material. So yeah, your 404 error might literally be because a great white got hungry. The internet runs on vibes and shark-resistant coating.

So Spotify just casually announced that their top engineers haven't manually written code in MONTHS because they're letting Claude do all the heavy lifting. They're literally deploying to production from their morning commute via Slack messages to an AI. Like, "Hey Claude, fix this bug real quick while I grab my latte ☕️" The absolute AUDACITY of having an internal system called "Honk" that lets you ship code to prod before you even step foot in the office. Meanwhile, the rest of us are still arguing in code reviews about whether to use tabs or spaces while these folks are living in 3024 where the AI does everything and engineers just... manage? Direct? Vibe check the code? Honestly, just pack it up everyone. Close the subreddit. We've reached peak absurdity. The future is here and it's an engineer on a train telling Claude to merge to prod while half asleep. What a time to be alive (and possibly unemployed soon). 🎭

When the job posting says "Junior Developer - 0-2 years experience" but also requires "Expert in 17 frameworks, machine learning, quantum computing, and ability to debug code by smell alone." That's how we end up with this 55-year-old "junior" looking like he's seen some shit. By 2025, entry-level positions will require you to have invented time travel just to acquire the necessary experience. The name tag is just the cherry on top - "AI Technician" because apparently, that's what we're calling "copy-pasting from Stack Overflow with extra steps" these days.

This 9-year-old post aged like fine wine. Dude basically wrote the entire ChatGPT/Copilot playbook before it was cool. Started with "AI will nibble at CRUD apps and simple loops" and now we're literally watching AI generate entire React components while we sip coffee. The real kicker? His timeline was "30-100 years" but here we are less than a decade later with AI already doing the exact progression he described. We went from "humans work at a higher level" to "wait, is Copilot writing better code than my junior dev?" in record time. And that ending though—"I'll die peacefully before the turds hit the turbine, but RIP to my grandkids." Peak programmer optimism: predicting the automation apocalypse while being relieved you'll be dead before it happens. That's the energy we all need. While general AI tools are at least providing something useful to developers, Meta AI seems to exist in this weird limbo where it's technically a product but nobody's really sure what problem it's solving. The programmer remains parched either way, which is probably the most accurate representation of the current AI landscape—lots of hype, questionable utility.

The audacity. Developers are out here clutching their pearls about AI-generated code like they weren't copy-pasting barely-understood snippets from Stack Overflow for the past 15 years. Same energy, different source. The only difference is now the code comes with a chatbot instead of a passive-aggressive comment thread where someone marked your question as duplicate in 2011. Let's be real: whether you're Ctrl+C-ing from Stack Overflow or asking ChatGPT to "fix this function but make it faster," you're still googling your way through production. The moral superiority some devs have about "real coding" versus AI assistance is hilarious when their entire codebase is held together by answers from users who haven't logged in since Obama's first term.
