Minecraft's leaf decay feature went through more identity crises than a junior dev's first pull request. Leaves decay, then they don't, then they do again, then they stop because of big trees, then they're opaque, then they don't decay, then they have a sapling drop chance, then they decay when not connected to ground, then they don't decay, then they do, then they're disabled due to an infinite loop (classic), then re-introduced, then rewritten. Notch truly pioneered the art of feature toggling before it was cool. Ten different versions, ten different opinions on whether leaves should fall. Product management would have a field day with this changelog. Nothing says "I know exactly what I'm doing" like disabling a feature because you accidentally created an infinite loop in production.
