The classic unmasking reveal template strikes again. Fred's all gentle and respectful with the AI Engineer, giving them a nice pat on the head like "good job buddy, you're doing great things for humanity." But then he rips off the mask and surprise! It's a TypeScript Engineer underneath, and suddenly Fred's holding them by the scruff like yesterday's garbage. The joke here is that "AI Engineers" are often just TypeScript devs who learned to call OpenAI's API and slap together some prompt chains with LangChain. They've rebranded from building React components to building "intelligent systems" but it's still the same person writing async/await and fighting with type definitions. The industry treats AI engineers like wizards while TypeScript engineers are just... engineers. Same skill set, different marketing.

Remember when AI engineers actually had to understand math? The top half shows the glory days of hand-crafted algorithms and weeks of debugging custom gradient descent. The bottom half is just us typing "make AI do the thing" into ChatGPT and calling ourselves engineers. We've gone from spending months fine-tuning decision trees to spending minutes fine-tuning our prompts. The muscles have atrophied, but hey, at least we can ship "AI innovation" before lunch now.

Job requirements: 5+ years experience with LangChain. Google search: LangChain was launched in October 2022. Ah yes, the classic tech recruiter time-travel paradox. "Must have 5+ years experience with technology that's existed for 1.5 years." Next they'll be asking for senior developers who can code in languages that haven't been invented yet. Maybe I should update my resume to include my expertise in quantum programming from the future. The only way to meet these requirements is if you're literally the creator of LangChain or you've mastered the dark arts of resume chronology manipulation.
