Every Weekend: The Indie Dev Edition

Every game developer somehow thinks we all want our screens to look like we're playing through a vaseline-smeared kaleidoscope. The first 20 minutes of any new game is just me frantically hunting through settings menus to turn off those unholy visual "enhancements." OH. MY. GOD. Someone actually wrote a function that checks if a deck is unique by comparing it to previous decks, loops through ALL 52 CARDS, and then... PLOT TWIST... returns true no matter what! 🤦‍♀️ The drama here is ASTRONOMICAL! That entire red section is just elaborate theater that does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's like building an entire security system for your house but leaving the key under the mat with a neon sign saying "KEY HERE!" The function name promises uniqueness but delivers LIES. Trust issues? I have them now.

The digital hoarding phenomenon strikes again! That sweet dopamine hit from clicking "Purchase" during Steam sales is vastly superior to the actual commitment of downloading and playing the games. My Steam library has more unplayed titles than a bookshelf at an illiterate's house. It's basically a digital museum of good intentions at this point. The backlog grows faster than technical debt in a startup with no code reviews.

Meanwhile, the exhausted dev on the left has seen the dark side - the endless debugging of physics engines, memory leaks that appear only in production, and that one shader that refuses to compile for no logical reason. It's the classic "I'll just make a simple 2D platformer" that somehow morphs into "Why am I implementing my own quaternion math library at 4am?" pipeline. Game development: where your dreams go to get refactored into nightmares.

The circle of tech life continues. Nintendo's 3DS died in 2024, only for Samsung to resurrect the glasses-free 3D concept a year later with their fancy Odyssey monitor. Ten years of developers avoiding 3D like the plague, and now we're supposed to believe it's revolutionary again? Watch us waste another decade optimizing for a feature nobody asked for while our actual code still runs on duct tape and prayers.

The AUDACITY of real life to interrupt a perfectly good simulation game! 💅 Marriage can wait, but these virtual citizens NEED their roller coasters and public bathrooms RIGHT NOW! The bride isn't just getting cold feet—she's getting carpal tunnel from optimizing her park layout while wearing a $3000 wedding dress. Talk about priorities, sweetie!
