It's the digital equivalent of using Internet Explorer to download Chrome—technically obsolete, but still functional enough to get the job done. Your PC is basically being protected by software that predates the Heartbleed bug, yet here it is, catching threats like it's still 2014 and it actually knows what's going on. The real question is: should you be grateful or terrified that your security model relies on a decade-old signature database?
