The absurdity hits different when you realize we've gone from "don't tell anyone your real name online" to "please submit a high-resolution scan of your face and legal documents." Privacy went from being the default to being a nostalgic memory, and all so kids can play a game where they collect virtual currency and navigate poorly-lit parkour courses. The regulatory pendulum swung so hard it knocked anonymity into the next dimension.
