First you're convinced it's just fancy markup, then you spend 6 hours debugging missing brackets and suddenly you're questioning reality itself. The compiler errors hit different when your thesis is due tomorrow and you can't figure out why your bibliography is possessed by demons. Honestly, anyone who's mastered LaTeX deserves both a CS degree AND a philosophy degree for surviving the existential crisis!
