Every senior dev has seen this play out at least a dozen times. Junior walks in all bright-eyed asking if we can "just deploy it directly to production" and suddenly you're transported back to 3am on a Saturday, watching the entire system burn because someone thought staging environments were "optional overhead." That thousand-yard stare isn't just for show. It's earned through production outages, angry customer emails, and explaining to the CEO why the website is down during Black Friday. The war flashbacks are real, and they're triggered by phrases like "it works on my machine" and "what's the worst that could happen?" Pro tip: If your senior dev gets that distant look and starts mumbling about "the incident of 2019," just back away slowly and schedule a proper deployment pipeline review.
