The PC industry looked at all the sensible connector designs—cable lugs that actually grip, robust connectors with proper retention mechanisms, thick wires that can handle serious current—and said "nah, let's go with this flimsy plastic thing that falls out if you breathe on it too hard." The Molex connector is basically held together by thoughts and prayers. No locking mechanism, no strain relief, just pure friction and the hope that you plugged it in straight. Meanwhile, your GPU is pulling hundreds of watts through contacts thinner than your patience during a Windows update. Fun fact: The Molex connector was designed in 1938, which explains why it feels like using technology from the Great Depression. At least it's better than the old AT power connector that could literally be plugged in backwards and fry your motherboard. Progress!
