Cobol Post
While everyone's fighting over whether React is better than Vue or if TypeScript is worth the hassle, COBOL developers are just sitting there eating their lunch, completely unbothered, making six figures maintaining banking systems from 1972. The language is older than most developers' parents, yet it still runs 95% of ATM transactions and 80% of in-person transactions. Banks literally can't find enough COBOL programmers, so they're paying obscene amounts to anyone who knows it. Meanwhile, the rest of us are rewriting our apps in the framework-of-the-month for the third time this year. Job security? More like job immortality. Those mainframes aren't going anywhere.

When Your Framework Is Next Gen But Their Site Is 1999

When Your Framework Is Next Gen But Their Site Is 1999
Behold the duality of the web! While the private sector is out here flexing with React, Vue, and whatever framework dropped last Tuesday, government websites are still rocking that sweet HTML 3.0 vibe with Times New Roman and blue hyperlinks you've already clicked. Nothing says "we take digital security seriously" like a website that looks like it was built when dial-up was considered high-speed and "cloud computing" meant checking the weather forecast. Yet somehow these ancient digital relics still manage to collect your taxes with 99.99% efficiency. Priorities, am I right?

Pick Your Poison

Pick Your Poison
Ah, the eternal dilemma of legacy maintenance. Do you want to decipher cryptic Fortran from the moon landing era or try to understand whatever framework-of-the-month some junior dev installed because they saw it on a YouTube tutorial? The cold sweat is real. Ancient code at least has the excuse of being written when computers had less memory than your coffee maker. Modern "vibe code" was written yesterday by someone who named all their variables after their favorite anime characters. Either way, you're the poor soul who has to maintain it until retirement or sweet release, whichever comes first.

Modern Frameworks vs jQuery Marksman

Modern Frameworks vs jQuery Marksman
Left panel: A shooter with perfect form, deadly precision, and an arsenal of modern frontend frameworks and tools that have revolutionized web development over the last decade. Right panel: The guy who still uses jQuery in 2024 and somehow keeps hitting the target anyway. The web development equivalent of bringing a musket to a laser gun fight and still managing to take down the enemy. Respect.
